10 Perfect Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
6. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin
How do you have a list like this and not include at least a little bit of Zeppelin? After all, the entire concept of hard rock in general was stemmed from half of their back catalog anyway. Though pretty much all of the self titled releases could have made for a prime spot here, their fourth outing is the moment where everything started firing on all cylinders.
With years of experience now under their belt, these 8 tracks feel like some of the most timeless pieces of music to come out of the early '70s. The inclusion of Stairway to Heaven alone would have been enough to call this album a classic, but the rest of the record is still absolutely amazing. From the initial riff of Black Dog, these guys still knew how to throw down with the best of them, bringing in a sense of stomp that hit you right between the eyes when it came on.
Even on the slower moments like The Battle of Evermore, you can feel a brewing intensity, like the fate of the Earth is dependent upon making it to the end of the song. While they may have started out on the back end of the British Blues Boom, Led Zeppelin IV is where you see just how far these guys have grown up since their inception.
