10 Perfect Hard Rock & Metal Albums That Bands HATE
7. Pinkerton - Weezer
Not many other albums have seen the critical 180 that Weezer's Pinkerton has had.
After being blackballed out of rock and roll and being considered one of the worst rock records of the late '90s, fans started to come around on this record as a complete masterpiece of emo rock, with Rivers Cuomo pouring his heart out over 10 tracks. It would be nice if Rivers happened to feel the same way though.
As it turns out, Rivers has sided with the critics opinion from back in the day, and still thinks this is one of the worst things that he has ever been a part of. And it seems that the one thing he targets as the failure is what everyone else loves about it: how open hearted everything is. What everyone else sees as organic feelings and genuine pain Rivers sees as the equivalent of puking your guts out in front of all your friends.
Apparently rock fans tend to like that kind of open hearted stuff though, since songs like EL Scorcho and The Good Life have become some of the most celebrated songs in Weezer's canon. Is this the worst thing that Weezer has ever done? Hell no, not if something like Raditude exists.
Even though it might not be perfect from top to bottom, Rivers really deserves to give it a second look.
