10 Perfect Metal Albums With No Bad Songs

2. Master of Reality - Black Sabbath

Pretty much any one of Black Sabbath's first few albums with Ozzy could have nabbed themselves a spot on this list. Hell, if you wanted to get really technical with metal's origins, you could argue that the moment the genre came into existence was with the first Black Sabbath record back in 1970. Little did we know that that was only the beginning of Sabbath's darkness.

After becoming fan favorites on the back of Paranoid, Master of Reality is where Sabbath started to double down on the more aggressive parts of their sound. Along with having some of the most menacing riffs of the day, this is where Tony Iommi discovered the beauty of tuning down your guitar, making for a sound that bled into everything from nu metal to stoner rock. Speaking of stoned, this is practically the foundation for the heavy stuff, with Sweet Leaf being a straight up ode to the ganja leaf.

Outside of the pot talk though, this is where Sabbath's lyrics reached beyond just standard demons and dragons, whether it was documenting the doom of the flower children on Children of the Grave or looking for the dangers that exist beyond this world on Into the Void. Considering this is a fan favorite among pretty much the entire metal community, this is where Sabbath really were able to capture something that actually felt evil.
