10 Perfect Rock Albums For Pop Fans

8. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - Panic at the Disco

There's a good chance that some of the children of the '00s are trying to hide most of the relics of their emo phase in a box of shame in their bedroom. As much as it has seen a resurgence in recent years, the years of endless eyeliner and fringe haircuts was a pretty dark time, with a lot of fans being made fun of mercilessly for wearing My Chemical Romance T-shirts. Compared to the likes of Fall Out Boy though, Panic! at the Disco may as well have been a sideshow act when they first burst onto the scene.

That's not even a slam against them though, with A Fever You Can't Sweat Out having some of the best old fashioned melodies that the world of pop punk had ever seen. Though there are songs on here that take a few cues from people like Blink-182 or even Green Day in spots, there are also a handful of times where things go completely off the rails, like the different electronic breakdowns on a song like Time To Dance or London Beckoned Songs, with its outro that feels like it's ripped from some jaunty jazz club that would have lit up the charts in the 1920's.

This also might be the purest collaboration that Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross ever had, as Ryan's lyrical style tends to be on the eccentric side and Brendon being just the kind of flamboyant frontman to translate every word effectively. Some of those song titles might be obnoxiously long, but once you get past some of the window dressing, there's an amazing band that's ready to explode.
