10 Perfect Rock Albums For Pop Music Fans

6. The Joshua Tree - U2

As time has gone on, rock and roll has never been something that you can put in a box. Although it's easy to chalk up any song with guitars as rock and roll, the genre has infested itself into countless genres throughout the years and has almost become meaningless. Nowadays, rock and roll feels more like a lifestyle, and that lifestyle was in U2's DNA when they set out to make the Joshua Tree.

After being rooted in the punk scene for the first part of their career, this is the moment where they started to expand their horizons beyond rock altogether, looking to take on the establishment with songs as their weapons. Across songs like Bullet the Blue Sky, you can hear Bono seething with anger on the state of the world and how we could be doing much better than we already are. This is not an album designed to preach to you though, and the best parts come in how relatable these songs can be.

Outside of the political material, the strength comes in their ability to depict heartache, whether that's a relationship falling apart on With Or Without You or that internal loneliness that will never leave you alone on I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. For all of the rockers that get stale over time, U2 had their heart on their sleeve throughout this entire record. They believed in the idea of music being able to move you, and the songs on this record tap into something that hides deep in everyone's soul.
