10 Perfect Rock Albums For Summer 2022

8. Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cosmo's Factory (1970)

If being emerged in the sleazy world of Mac DeMarco was giving you a glazed over expression and leaving you with a Mathew McConaughey cadence, then it's time step it up a gear. Admittedly Credence are still fairly laidback, but they carry enough oomph to kick off a summer morning with some purpose.

The group's third album Green River (1969) is often cited as their greatest, and it's easy to see why - after all it does feature "Bad Moon Rising". But if there's one Credence record that's perfect for summertime, it has to be Cosmo's Factory.

All you need to know about this record is that it contains three essential summertime rock songs. First up you've got the knee slappin' "Lookin' Out My Back Door" - a song it's impossible to feel miserable to. Next up, an essential in any Vietnam War movie soundtrack, "Run Through The Jungle" - an instant mood setter; anyone within earshot will begin nodding their head with approval. And finally, the album features one of the finest renditions of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" you'll ever hear - for a bunch of white guys, Credence nailed this R&B classic.
