10 Perfect Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
7. The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
By the time we reached the '00s, the rock opera felt like a product from a bygone era. Since this was the same time that we started looking at mp3s, who the hell wanted to concern themselves with sitting through an album with a storyline and actual characters? Well...as long as you have the right idea, you can end up shaking the entire record industry to its core.
Much like Green Day had attempted with American Idiot a few months prior, My Chemical Romance created a macabre masterpiece with the Black Parade, detailing the life of an anonymous cancer patient as he rots away in a hospital for his final days. As much as this guy comes off as pathetic and sadistic on this album, you still end up feeling for him as he grapples with the fact that he has made mistakes that he can't atone for.
While the actual lyrics sound like anything but a fun time, the music itself is some of the most energetic rock that you will ever hear, whether you're throwing on the Queen influences on the title track or going full Aerosmith on a song like I Don't Love You. Somewhere in between the rock worship, you have songs like Sleep and Dead!, which distill everything great about emo rock into one dark package. Out of all the parents who claim that the emo scene was just a phase, this is the album that will shut them up.
