10 Perfect Rock Music Albums Of The 2010s
1. A Thousand Suns - Linkin Park
Never has a band's change in sound felt more divided in a fanbase than on Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns. After years of being one of the mainstays of the nu metal movement and transitioning into the world of alternative rock on Minutes to Midnight, this foray into the world of conceptual rock was a lot more than fans could handle at the time. Even though A Thousand Suns may seem like a spotty record, it doesn't get nearly enough credit for the mark it's left on the rock world.
Using the heroes that they idolized as kids, this is the kind of concept record that Linkin Park had envisioned from the start, complete with interludes that are meant to provide the backdrop for this nuclear fallout that everyone has witnessed. In between, you also get some of the most cathartic emotional songs in the band's catalog, from the build in Waiting for the End to the pure anger coming out of tracks like Wretches and Kings.
Then again, it makes total sense that someone who came for the heaviness is going to be disappointed in hearing an album that sounds like this. This isn't meant to be a grab bag of great songs though. Like albums like Kid A and Dark Side of the Moon, this is the kind of record that you let wash over you and take it in as a full experience.
