10 Perfect Rock Music Songs That Were Inspired By The Beatles
2. Get Off My Cloud - Rolling Stones
It's time that people put the rivalry between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones to rest. Despite the music press insisting that the band members hated each other and how the Stones were a dark mirror image of the Fab Four, both bands seemed to get along fairly well, supporting each other and going to each other's shows when they had off days. While John Lennon and Paul McCartney may have written the band's first hit with their cover of I Wanna Be Your Man, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards seemed to take note of their writing style on Get Off My Cloud.
While this was released around the same time a Hard Day's Night was being shown in theaters, this song feels like a throwback to the very early days of the Beatles, back when they were the hottest little band to come out of Merseyside and trying to make more R&B infused rock and roll. Though Mick and Keith tend to have more bluesy influences than the Fabs, this is about as cut and dry a rock song as you can get, borrowing the attitude of someone like Little Richard while also channeling the rough and tumble spirit of the Fabs circa She Loves You.
For the next few years though, the Stones would be playing catchup with their friends, putting out Beatles-infused songs like Paint It Black and You Can't Always Get What You Want before returning back to the blues. Pulling notes from the Beatles is a perfectly good idea for any up and coming band, but the Stones figured out there was more to explore once you got that foundation.
