10 Perfect Rock Singles Of The 2000s

8. Jet: Are You Gonna Be My Girl (2003)

With the revival of garage rock, came a plethora of groups taking their shot at the big time. Unsurprisingly the music scene was flooded with a string of one hit wonder. If you've forgotten Jet, you're to be forgiven. They really didn't have much luck after the release of their debut single. But damn was it a good.

With a drum beat reminiscent of Iggy Pop's Lust For Life and a guitar riff not dissimilar to a certain White Stripes number, accusations of plagiarism were thrown around - so in many ways it's not surprising they soon faded into obscurity - but when a track was this infectious who cared?

With lyrics that were instantly chant-able and a chorus hook that made you move, it was fairly obvious this track was gonna hit it big. It was a near constant on rock stations, and you could count on it being played at your local indie night without fail. This was garage rock you could dance to, with plenty of opportunity to throw in the odd air guitar.
