10 Perfect Rock Singles Of The 2000s

9. Kings Of Leon: Molly's Chambers (2003)

When Kings Of Leon first hit the scene in the early 2000s, they couldn't have looked or sounded any different to how they do now. Sporting hair cuts and moustaches that would make any '70s rocker proud, they broke the UK scene with fast paced, punchy garage rock - all infused with a helping of Southern swagger.

Funnily enough the marrying of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Strokes, didn't really land with an American audience, but in the UK music fans lapped up what KOL had to offer. Their debut, Youth and Young Manhood, was what the UK music scene yearned for after the excitement of the Libertines.

Their rapid rise to success this was due to a string of captivating singles. Red Morning Light, Wasted Time and California Waiting all showcased the group's ability to bring Southern blues-rock into the 21st Century, but Molly's Chamber was the number that really hit home. The guitars were sufficiently twangy to pull in the indie crowd; the bass line was punchy enough to summon the post-punks, and the vocals had the swaggering drawl of the South to make the girls swoon.
