10 Perfect Rock Songs That Divided Rock Bands

4. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen

Most people that are going into making an album aren't going to think of the singles first. Any band worth its salt will probably want to put together an album with enough quality that nearly any of the songs could have been released as singles. Queen were no exception to the rule...except for when it came time to talk about the album Jazz.

On the surface, Don't Stop Me Now may be one of the most fun-filled Queen songs in their catalog, having one of the greatest drum tracks in their catalog and an absolutely powerhouse performance from Freddie Mercury. It turns out that the only person not all that jazzed about it was....Brian May. When going through which songs should be released as singles, May was quick to discount the song, saying that it wasn't really indicative of the Queen sound.

Looking back on it now though, Brian had said that most of his pent up resentment towards the song had to do with the subject matter. In his mind, this is where Freddie was starting to spiral, and having a song all about excess wasn't really sitting well with him at the time. Leave it to Brian May to talk trash on one of his band's signature tracks and yet still come out looking like a diplomatic person at the end of it.
