10 Perfect Rock Songs That Were Never Released As Singles

2. Change Your Mind - The Killers

For the millennial generation, Hot Fuss is one of the few albums that seems to come close to perfection. With a bulletproof single in Mr. Brightside and every other song managing to reach those heights in one form or another, this is the kind of record that became the soundtrack for a generation of kids looking to get into music for the first time. So with all that in mind, how come so many people sleep on Change Your Mind?

It's not like the Killers have really switched up their usual formula on this song, with the glossy keyboards just taking a backseat to the guitar lines being sprinkled throughout the song. If anything, this is probably the most straightforward song on the whole record, with Brandon Flowers being incredibly sincere as he delivers some of the most lovelorn lyrics on the album. Combined with the '80s aesthetic of the song, the lyrics sound like one of the best songs from the MTV generation that no one really got the chance to hear.

Whereas most of the album sounds like the Killers trying to pass themselves off as a relic of the post punk side of the '80s, this feels like a modern update of something the Cars would have done during their '80s period. This might not have set the world on fire upon first release, but give it time. In a few decades, this will probably be a song that will kill the competition once it's used in a teen romance movie.
