10 Perfect Singles By Terrible Rock Bands

3. Savage Garden: To The Moon & Back (1997)

Remember Savage Garden? That's alright, if you were born after the year 2000 you probably wouldn't. But this Australian pop-rock duo were huge in the late '90s. Their debut album was filled with music that could only have been made during that era. It was sincere, cheesy, brilliant, cringe-inducing and somehow irresistible. Every song was insanely catchy, and almost everyone was listening to their first album, even if they wouldn't admit to it.

Savage Garden might have been the next big thing in pop; if it wasn't for their frontman going off on an ego trip, and trying to launch a solo career as soon as they got successful. They had the melodies, the earnest delivery, hell they even played their own instruments - a guitar solo in pop music... , unheard of. But something about them just didn't sit right.

It was like everyone collectively knew this music was sort of whack, but couldn't help being sucked into it all.

Their music videos didn't help. Lyrics were delivered to the camera with all the earnestness of a lover staring into their partners eyes mid coitus. It was all a bit much... , still, To The Moon & Back was great.
