10 Perfect Singles By Terrible Rock Bands
4. Limp Bizkit: Nookie (1999)
It was inevitable that Limp Bizkit would end up on this list. It's almost as fun to rail on these guys as it is Coldplay.
Guitarist Wes Borland has freely admitted he considered Limp Bizkit one of the dumbest bands in the world. And they were, but they were also hella fun. Rollin', Break Stuff and of course, Nookie all had a certain allure. Their music was a potent mix of grinding guitar jams, fat hip-hop inspired bass lines, and lyrics so absurd, they couldn't possibly have been anything other than parody. It made for some great entertainment. Maybe it started out like that, but then Fred Durst started conducting himself like he was the nu-metal equivalent of Eminem.
The fact of the matter was, these guys got so big, it all started going to their heads. You can't release an album named after a dirty human b-hole, and have people consider you anything but ridiculous. Perhaps this is too harsh an assessment of Bizkit; if you were an adolescent during the late '90s or 2000s, you better believe you had some of their CDs, and no doubt they were some of your most played.
