10 Perfect Songs That Had To Wait Years To Become Hits
5. Nude - Radiohead
Given all of their huge albums, Radiohead is not really a band to be rushed all that often. They are always willing to push the boundaries of what they do, and fans have come to accept that songs that the band would be proud to call their own will make it to them whenever the band sees fit. That usually involves years in the studio, but Nude was waiting a whole decade before it finally got a proper studio release.
Though most people would single out something like True Love Waits for a list like this, Nude was actually demoed during the OK Computer sessions, with the first drafts actually sounding a lot closer to what they were doing on tracks like Let Down. That's probably why they decided to shelve it though, knowing it had the makings of a good song but not wanting it to get lost in the shuffle, especially when there was another song that sounded just like it.
By the time they started to get back to the roots of what made them Radiohead on In Rainbows though, Colin Greenwood's new bass line to the song made everything come together, providing a gentle pulse to the track to blend alongside Thom Yorke's vocals. Radiohead might have a tendency to write songs intended to make you cry, but waiting for something like Nude gives you a taste of just how beautiful a song can be if you have a little patience.
