10 Pop-Punk Bands Whose Second Album Was Better Than Their First

9. The All-American Rejects

The All-American Rejects' first album may have introduced us to the unique vocal stylings of Tyson Ritter - and birthed the incredible Swing, Swing - but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't think Move Along is a much better all-round album.

The self-titled debut got favourable reviews and was listed on Rock Sound's 51 Most Essential Pop-Punk Albums of All Time list but, as was reflected in most of the reviews, was more of a signal of potential for things to come rather than the finished article.

Three years after the 2002 release, though, came Move Along - and that's precisely what the band did, as the band switched up their pop-punk stylings for a more direct rock release.

Any album opening with Dirty Little Secret was likely going to be the band's best work, but add Move Along and It Ends Tonight to the singles released from this album and a quarter of the tracklist is already stacked.

Move Along has now been certified as Double Platinum, having sold over two million copies, with the band seeing its greatest mainstream success to date with the three singles on their sophomore LP.
