10 Pop Songs That Artists Want You To Forget

9. Gold Digger - Kanye West

One of the biggest hurdles when having a killer debut album is doing the whole thing over again. There's always a good chance that you just got lightning in a bottle, and the next record is where you got to prove that you're worth sticking around for the long haul. And while Late Registration positioned Kanye as one of the greatest in the rap game, he has admitted that he picked the too obvious single to lead everything off with.

When talking about Gold Digger recently, Ye has made mention that he's not that big a fan of the blockbuster single with Jamie Foxx, and it's not hard to see why. As you go through the rest of the songs on Late Registration, this track practically sticks out like a sore thumb for how different it is, flipping a sample of Jamie's trademark Ray Charles impersonation and uses it to talk about a girl who loves money.

And it's not like this song has exactly aged that well either. While this might still be a problem with girls that love money, some of these lines tend to read more like a guy complaining about the hassles of being famous the minute that he started to see some major success. He hadn't been in the game more than 5 years and this was Ye giving us a little hint of the kind of superstar that we would be seeing later down the line.
