10 Pop Songs That Artists Want You To Forget
6. All Around the World - Oasis
Ever since Oasis first started, Noel Gallagher had big plans for the song All Around the World. Being one of the first songs that the band were jamming on in their rehearsal space in Manchester, Noel knew that he struck gold and wanted to hold off on recording it until he could fulfill its potential. And when Oasis got to the top of the world, Noel celebrated by turning in one of the most extra songs that he has ever made.
While the crux of Be Here Now is too padded for its own good, All Around the World feels like its aiming for something like Hey Jude without the muscle behind it to pull it off. Going through every piece of this song, you can practically feel the band trying to squeeze any emotion that they can from it, from changing keys by rising up and up until eventually giving way to strings that are celebrating absolutely nothing. And if you think that I'm laying hard into it, you haven't lived until you see the commentary Noel has for the song.
When doing commentary for some of Oasis' most famous videos of the '90s, Noel held nothing back when tearing into this song, from informing the audience that they should mow the garden because of how long the song takes to finish to questioning why there wasn't someone around them at the time telling them to stop. After years of being in one of the greatest bands in the world though, it's nice to know that Noel can at least laugh at himself when he wants to.
