10 Popular Guitar Riffs Invented Accidentally
5. Guns N’ Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine
Guns N' Roses have a whole catalog of catchy riffs developed by accident, therefore it can be difficult to narrow it down to just one. But to make things easier, let's say the award for the catchiest riff goes to "Sweet Child o' Mine."
The legendary riff first came about during a jam session at the band's house on the Sunset Strip in California. Slash, being the amazing guitarist that he is, began warming up by playing circus music on his guitar, all while making funny faces at drummer Steven Adler.
The noise got the band's attention, with guitarist Izzy Stradlin demanding that he play it again and again. In just an hour, the circus noise then became one of the most iconic riffs to date, with the lyrics to the song jotted down a mere few hours later.
