3. Lana Del Rey

Heres an artist that should be a lot more famous than she is. Lana Del Rey appeared on the pop music scene back in 2010 with a self-titled album that was mostly ignored. But just last year she managed to get her foot in the door with Born To Die. Popular single Summertime Sadness has picked up around the world while other singles such as Born To Die, Video Games and Ride have achieved mild success. The key to why Lana Del Rey is on this list however is that she is unique. Ironically, she achieves this by drawing inspiration from artists of way back. Her crooning in songs such as Ride and Blue Jeans draws strongly from the melancholy music of the 50s. Shes bringing back a type of music that is meaningful and relevant. I very much hope we see a lot more of her in the future.
