Can it live up to the impossibly high expectations? Of course it can - its a Libertines album. But can it really though? Fans have been agonising over such questions since the plans for a third LP were released in January. There's no way of really telling if the creative well has run dry, or if Pete and Carl's reunion will result in a batch of songs just as emotionally rich and musically excellent as before. There should be no shortage of material to inspire the band's two chief songwriters, given the many events which have taken place in the 11 years since they last released an album. If they resist the temptation to play it safe, they have the capability to put out a decade-defining record. Here's hoping they do so.
