10 Punk Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row

5. The Menzingers

Some of the best storytellers around, The Menzingers have been a consistent, brilliant and heartbreaking force in punk music for almost fifteen years, producing some seminal records within that time. They’ve been youthful, rough, self-deprecating, melancholic and reflective over the years, writing albums that see them coming to terms with new stages in life and all the trials that growing up brings.

They’ve technically got six great albums, but it all started with 2007s A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology leading to 2010s Chamberlain Waits. Inspired by Against Me!, the band began by making scrappy punk music before refining it with massive choruses.

In 2012 came the perfect On the Impossible Past full of sombre storytelling without ever losing its rough punk edge, leading on to 2014's Rented World. The albums focus on the consequences of being an ass once you’re no longer a kid, they romanticise the past and struggle to come to terms with the future. However, on After the Party (2017) The Menzingers wrote a perfect coming of age record documenting their emergence into the terrifying thirties. Not just featuring the best songwriting or messages of their career, After the Party is this incredible journey of finding yourself, lamented in all its Springsteen loving, Kerouac reading gloriousness.
