10 Rap Albums That Rock Fans Need To Check Out

9. Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts

If there is any indication needed for this kind of thing, let it be known that Kanye West is never going to be a rockstar. As much as he may talk about it in interviews about being the new form of rock star, nothing from albums like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Graduation belongs in the same breath as something like Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones. Hell, if there was anything Ye is involved in that comes anywhere near rock, it's probably Kids See Ghosts.

Though it's not like a lot of people weren't tugging at their collars when this kind of thing was announced. Since Kid Cudi's flirtations with rock on Speeding Bullet to Heaven were waaay too ill-advised, the idea of another psychedelic head trip felt like too much too soon. Instead of being the car crash we were waiting for it to be, Kids See Ghosts turned into one of the most accessible collections of tracks in either rapper's discography, as Ye pulls out production tricks we haven't seen since the glory days.

Along with the massive amounts of distortion on the voice, the entire project is exactly what the album art implies, with the listener being thrown into some of the most chaotic takes on psych rap ever conceived. Ye might not have achieved rock star status by a long shot, but at least he's making his way towards rock adjacent genres these days.
