10 Rare Muse Songs You've Probably Never Heard
7. Glorious - Black Holes And Revelations B-Side
The B-Side is always considered somewhat of a wasteland for most bands. As opposed to even the album cuts, these are the tracks that either don't cut the mustard or are written specifically because you need something to play off the main single cut. In Muse's case though, you get tracks like Glorious that you wonder how the hell they end up on the flipside to ANYTHING.
Coming from the Black Holes and Revelations sessions, this was considered for the album but was ultimately thrown onto the single cut of the song Invincible. While you could argue that it's not as strong as any of the other tracks, this is probably the most epic sounding recording to come from those sessions. As opposed to the sonic journeys you got on the proper record, the way that the effected guitars and booming drums play off each other almost feel like you're about to witness a spaceship about to take off, as Bellamy soars above the instrumentation down below.
Though Take a Bow arguably serves as the better mission statement for Black Holes as a whole, this kind of grandiose opening would have been the perfect way to set everything in motion, with each instrument sounding like a massive buildup to something even more massive. There's probably an alternative universe where Glorious led off Black Holes and Revelations, but there's no shame in being a B-side, especially when you have riffs like this.
