10 Rarest Band T-Shirts Of All Time
3. Led Zeppelin - ‘Knebworth’ - $10,000
Another Knebworth t-shirt for another colossal gig in the 70s for another legendary band that played to another gathering of hundreds and thousands of fans. It was the first time in four years Led Zeppelin played in the UK on the 4th August 1979. Tragically drummer John Bonham would pass away a year later so this was the last time the band would play in their home country of the UK (until reuniting for a one-off at The O2 Arena in 2007 with John’s son on the drumkit).
It’s acknowledged by Zeppelin devotees that the t-shirt the band had made for this gig is ‘the rarest Led Zeppelin T-shirt in the world’. It’s another simplistic design but a significant reason it’s rare/valuable being only a handful were printed and it doubled as a backstage pass too.
An anonymous Australian shelled out $10,000 for one of these shirts in 2011 on eBay. Staggering given the seller bought it for only $123 from the owners of a print shop that made them for Led Zeppelin. He commented: “At the time, I thought I may have overpaid, until I got back home, looked it up online and noticed it was ranked as the rarest Led Zeppelin T-shirt.” He made a gigantic $9877 profit on that one t-shirt.
