For every John Lennon, Nas, Bob Dylan and Eminem - all amazing, poetic lyricists in their own right - music has had its equal share of illiterate and meaningless drivel. With so many poignant and meaningful songs in existence, one has to often wonder how certain songs are able to get a commercial release with such awful lyrics in them. If there's one thing that really grinds my gears, it's horrendous lyricism. It angers me. If you can't be bothered to write decent lyrics, don't write lyrics at all.
