10 Reasons Why My Chemical Romance Desperately Need To Reform

5. No Other Rock Band Has Replaced Their Theatricality

Theatricality in music is no new thing. It€™s been knocking around the world since Ancient Greece. But what would the Grecians say if they could see MCR? Probably something in a language I don€™t understand. Still, My Chemical Romance€™s penchant for costumes and make-up was incredibly endearing. Sure, there have been bands attempting to pull off more elaborate concepts, but MCR managed to strike a brilliant balance between spectacle, sentimentality and genuineness. While it's easy for musicians to come across as edgy and insincere when they deviate from your typical stage performance (looking at you, Lady Gaga) there wasn't a lot of pretence when it came to MCR's high-concept hijinks, just a massive amount of passion and fun. It certainly helped that the member's of MCR were so enamoured by the source material. During the gloomier days of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, the band would often talk about their love of horror and how it defined their New Jersey upbringing. And when it came to the comic book aesthetic of Danger Days, Gerard was already responsible for writing one himself, namely The Umbrella Academy. It was this love and respect for the roots of their spectacle that elevated the band's various personas to immense heights.
