10 Recent Indie-Rock Covers You'll Never Go Back From

9. The Interrupters - Bad Guy (Original: Billie Eilish)

Given that Netflix hit The Umbrella Academy is based on a comic series created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, there was no chance that its soundtrack was going to leave anything to be desired.

With the likes of Kiss, Backstreet Boys and even Way himself adding music to the latest season's soundtrack, it was this take on Billie Eilish's monster hit that stuck with many. Turning the instantly familiar riff into a rocky undertone allowed The Interrupters to keep the high tempo of the original while injecting a healthy dose of chaotic energy, especially with multiple vocalists going back and forth.

The trombone showing up soon after only adds to this further, cementing the quirky, tongue in cheek nature of this cover which perfectly fits in with the tone of the show itself. People keeping their ears peeled will also be able to pick up a reference to Madness' One Step Beyond, which undoubtedly proved to be a major inspiration for the direction they took this cover in.

Here, the band don't just make this song their own but make the original sound like it's from a different timeline altogether (pun intended) and we're absolutely here for it.
