10 Rock Album Covers That Led To Massive Lawsuits

3. No Line On The Horizon - U2

Given all that they've done for the music world, there's a good chance that Bono has raised enough money to be the Scrooge McDuck of rock and roll. From the work that he's done for charity to the millions upon millions of U2 records sold, there's no real limit to how far the music of these Irish lads can reach. The only catch is that when you get famous, you have to be careful when you're cribbing from someone else's idea.

Compared to the iconic imagery that graces something like the Joshua Tree, the cover of No Line on the Horizon can best be described as bleak, with just a plain gray and contrasting background with nothing much else to look at. As plain as the record seems on first glance, an artist actually came forward claiming that this was practically a carbon copy of one of his own works.

Not only was this a copy of a piece of art by Hiroshi Sugimoto...it was another album cover already, with it already turning up on an album from 2006 from artists Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree. Although the idea of fighting over the same stark image can seem a bit petty, when you're still trying to make a name for yourself, it's sometimes best to just settle for a check from one of the kings of the music industry.
