10 Rock Albums That Haven't Aged Well At All

7. It's Hard - The Who

For a good portion of Who fans, most of the magic that came from the group seemed to get snuffed out once Keith Moon passed away. Though Moon was never a core part of the band's songwriting or anything, his drumming always kept the band grounded throughout every single song, and his presence was bound to haunt the band for the rest of their days. Face Dances may have put them on a little bit of calmer ground, but It's Hard really felt like the Who on their last legs.

Coming at the very start of the '80s, this entire project feels like Pete Townshend trying to adapt the Who into what he thinks the '80s were supposed to be and accidentally ending up sounding like an '80s version of the Eagles. As much as some of those keyboard sounds might have sounded futuristic in the days of Who's Next, using the same ones here makes a good half of these songs sound like they would make for some passable background music on a cop show.

They did manage to get one last big hit out of the deal though, but even the single Eminence Front seems to know something we don't, as Pete Townshend calls out the phoniness of the music business and how everyone is putting on a face in some way. Things were still operating as planned, but it sounds like Pete really saw the writing on the wall when writing this song.
