10 Rock Albums That Peak With The Final Song
3. Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Jimi Hendrix Experience's third and final album is a tough one to rank because, technically, it ends twice.
As a double album, there's two different records to pick from which close things out in very different ways. You could even count the closing tracks on each side, which would mean that it actually comes to an end four times!
But let's not get silly.
Whilst disc one is concluded by the utterly unhinged Burning of the Midnight Lamp, the second vinyl is finished off with one of Hendrix's greatest ever creations.
A callback to another song on a different disc, Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) is everything great about the guitar god in one package. Explosive sound, psychedelic lyrics, board-shredding solos, and a riff to die for.
Even though it was released back in 1969, it still sounds massive. The guitar fills every single nook and cranny of the song, making you feel like an absolute demon whenever you hear it.
As a farewell to his time in The Experience, Jimi Hendrix really couldn't have asked for much. Well, maybe a pair of ear defenders, but that's besides the point.
