10 Rock Albums That Peak With The Second Song

2. Ten - Pearl Jam

Choosing the best song from Pearl Jam's debut album Ten is like picking the best apples from a bountiful orchard. Except all the albums are wearing plaid and you can't really understand what they're saying.

Alive is a good shout, as is Jeremy. You've also got Oceans, Porch, Gardens, and Black, but can you really argue for anything else but the absolute beast that is Even Flow?

Even Flow is one of the quintessential grunge songs. Unlike contemporaries like Smells Like Teen Spirit, it takes a jab at a much bigger target, commenting on the state of society in general and how it can leave people behind.

You can enjoy this song in so many ways. You can bang your head to the drums, bounce along to the groovy guitars, study the lyrics under a microscope, or just fill your mouth with water and do your best Eddie Vedder impression.

Pearl Jam really did nail it first time with Ten, and Even Flow is a huge part of why the album is so good. You're riding its energy for hours after you hear it, which is great news for the rest of what is a phenomenal album.
