10 Rock Albums That Peak With The Second Song

3. The Real Thing - Faith No More

Faith No More's The Real Thing might technically be another third album on this list, but you could argue that it's actually the band's first proper record.

It's the first one to feature vocalist Mike Patton, who joined the group in 1988. His flawless delivery and captivating stage presence helped transform the band's luck and gave them their first mega-single in the form of Epic.

A hard rock song with some early Nu Metal tendencies, Epic melds the group's tight playing style with Patton's bizarre whiny singing and pseudo-rapping. It became their first record ever to chart in the US and their only one to do so inside the top ten. It's still a firm fixture of their live shows and could be considered their biggest ever song.

Plus, its music video made Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers really mad, which is kinda funny.

Nothing else on The Real Thing can touch Epic in terms of its popularity and place within the wider Faith No More story, even if they do have some really funky titles.

The final track on this album is called "Woodpecker from Mars", which is delightful.
