10 Rock Albums That Were Killed By One Song
7. D'You Know What I Mean - Oasis
By the mid 90's, it seemed that Oasis could do no wrong. After coming off of their modern classic What's the Story Morning Glory, the Gallagher Brothers had conquered the rock world with their amazing run of shows at Knebworth. The band couldn't have been bigger, but they were going to see if they could make lightning strike multiple times on Be Here Now.
Though Oasis fans were psyched once the lead single "D'You Know What I Mean" came out, people slowly began to realize what they were hearing. The song starts off like a typical Oasis track would, but stretching the song out to over 7 minutes made most fans wince in retrospect. Little did we know that this kind of song structure was just a small taste of things to come, with much of the album being stretched to its limit to make an excessive rock and roll mess.
While Be Here Now may have gotten lots of praise in its day, many rock fans point to this one song as the moment where everything started to go terribly wrong. There's a good Oasis track hidden in here somewhere, but every excessive step the band took on this song wore out the album's welcome over time.
