10 Rock Albums That Were Stuck In Development Hell
5. Chicago XXXII: Stone Of Sisyphus - Chicago
A musician's public catalogue of work is always just the tip of the iceberg of their overall output.
Artists always have more stashed away in the vault that rarely ever sees the light of day, but fans of the band Chicago were treated in 2008 to an album many assumed was lost for good.
In 1993, the band laid down a record called Stone of Sisyphus, a reference to the Greek myth about a man doomed to push a stone up a hill only to have it roll back down again every time.
Ironically, this is basically what happened with the album.
Just when it looked like Stone of Sisyphus was going to get released, the record company changed their minds and decided they didn't like it anymore. So the whole thing was scrapped and it lay dormant for the next decade plus.
It was only in 2008 that it finally got a release on Rhino Records, after acquiring cult status as one of the greatest albums never released.
Fans were overjoyed that this long journey had finally ended, as Sisyphus finally got that stone to the top of the hill.
