10 Rock Albums That Were Stuck In Development Hell

2. Fear Inoculum - Tool

In the 13 years between 1993 and 2006, the band Tool released four different studio albums.

In the 13 years between 2006 and 2019, the band Tool released... one studio album.

And everyone was really annoyed about it.

Lead singer Maynard James Keenan originally implied that 2006's 10,000 Days would be the band's final album, before going back on that in 2008 and stating that something new was coming "right away."

Clearly his interpretation of that phrase was very different from the rest of us.

Work on the new album continued at a glacial pace over the next few years, marred by injuries, lawsuits, and just about everything else that could have gone wrong.

It actually became a meme that the new Tool album was never going to come, until the veil was finally lifted in 2019 with the release of Fear Inoculum.

The album went down a treat, debuting at number one in the US and receiving widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike.

This might have had something to do with the fact that people had been waiting for this album for over a decade, but let's not take anything away from Tool and their hard work.
