10 Rock Artists That Had Hit Albums Over A Decade Apart

9. Kiss - 13 Years

Blur might have just missed out on being double qualifiers for this list, but Kiss sure didn't!

The world's largest importers of white face paint also waited an obscenely long time to release a follow-up to their 1998 album Psycho Circus. That was a big seller, peaking at number three in the US charts, but this wasn't enough to encourage the lads to get back to the studio.

In 2009 however, Kiss finally put out Sonic Boom, their first record in 11 years. This did even better than Psycho Circus, topping out at second place on Billboard's weekly lists.

Actually, 11 years to gain one chart position doesn't sound great, does it?

Their longest wait for a top ten was the 13-year gap between 1979's Dynasty and 1992's Revenge. Despite making eight albums in that time, none of them charted high enough to make this list.

Original drummer Peter Criss left in 1980, so maybe that explains this long dry period. Equally, people could have just gotten bored with Kiss' antics until the early 90s, where it was seen as retro and novel.

Whatever the reason, hopefully Kiss learned a valuable lesson in patience from these experiences.
