10 Rock Artists That Had Hit Albums Over A Decade Apart

4. Santana - 18 Years

Carlos Santana and his self-named band shot to worldwide fame thanks to their incredible live performance at Woodstock Festival in 1969.

Their unique fusion of rock 'n' roll, Latin rhythm, and jazz set them apart from everyone else and earned them legions of lifelong fans.

The band enjoyed a strong chart run in the early 70s and would return to the top ten on a few more occasions. In 1981, they reached number nine with the album Zebop!, before fading away for a long, long time.

And then came 1999's Supernatural.

With a focus on radio-friendly music and back-up from artists ranging from Eric Clapton to CeeLo Green, Supernatural took over the musical world.

It went to number one in the US (and several other countries too) and spawned the hit single Smooth, which appeared in the best-selling songs lists for both the 1990s and the 2000s!

Supernatural redefined the term "comeback album" and scored Santana their first hit in 18 years. They followed it up with another chart-topper the following year and have gone on to secure their legacy as one of rock's biggest ever bands.
