10 Rock Artists That Had Hit Albums Over A Decade Apart

5. Soundgarden - 16 Years

As massive and influential a band as they are, Soundgarden have only released six studio albums.

Their first to explode in popularity was 1994's Superunknown, which scored the group their only US number one record. That and about a hundred other awards too, but there's no time to go through all of those.

Then came 1996's Down on the Upside, which reached number two this time. Just one year after, mounting frustrations led to the band splitting up and going their separate ways.

Chris Cornell spent some of that time performing with Audioslave and writing the theme song to a James Bond movie. The other members did some stuff too, but none of it was as cool as that.

In 2010, Cornell announced that the band were reforming. The fruit of this reunion came two years later with Soundgarden's much-anticipated comeback album King Animal.

Though it couldn't touch their classic work, King Animal was still a raging success. It landed at number five, ending a 16 year wait.

Sadly, with Cornell's death in 2017, this might be the last time we ever see Soundgarden's name in the charts.
