10 Rock Artists Who Have Released A Ridiculous Number Of Albums

5. The Fall - 31

When The Fall's Mark E. Smith died in 2018, it brought to an end one of the most impressive musical careers of all time.

His band, which were formed in the wake of Smith attending a Sex Pistols concert in the 1970s, were notorious for pumping out albums like nobodies business, helping to set the standard for punk music going forward.

Smith remained The Fall's only constant member, as new ones cycled in and out at breakneck pace. With each new incarnation came a new sound and style, making it hard to picture how one version of the group led to another.

Prior to their founder's death, The Fall made it to 31 different studio albums, 59 live albums, 6 albums that were somehow a combination of both, and enough singles to make a vinyl collector wet themselves with excitement.

There will likely never be a band quite like The Fall; Smith's refusal to look back meant that they were constantly shifting and evolving. This makes listening through all of their albums in order quite the journey.

A journey that needs some significant time set aside to take.
