10 Rock Bands That Destroyed Their Own Legacies
6. The Stooges
The Stooges were a gift to the world of hard rock when they burst out of the Detroit club scene in the late 60's. The band captured the essence of rock and roll with some of the most furious guitars of the day and the wild antics of frontman Iggy Pop.
After the release of the album Raw Power, the band fell apart due to creative disagreements and drug problems. While it's a shame to see one of the best acts burn out, the band's back catalog remained absolutely spotless given their limited output. Once the band decided to emerge from the dead in the 2000's, many of those ravenous fans from the early days were absolutely psyched.
The shows were certainly as chaotic as ever, but fans were not really feeling that same spirit once they heard the new material. The band's followup albums The Weirdness and Ready to Die seemed too verge on the wrong side of chaotic and ended up just being ear-piercing to those who preferred the classic garage rock bombast of the band's early works. They could still play their asses off on the live stage from time to time, but the idea of having another great Stooges album may be lost forever .
