10 Rock Bands That Fell Apart At The Top Of Their Game

2. The Beatles

For all of the '60s naivety going around at the time, it truly did feel like the Fab Four were going to be around until the end of time. In just under a decade, the Beatles had gone from being the loveable moptops that made mad cap movies every now and again to some of the most experimental musicians in rock, with Sgt. Peppers and Revolver still holding up as some of the most forward thinking rock and roll out there. As much as people still like to blame Yoko Ono for the fallout, The Beatles fell out of love with each other almost purely through business.

Around the time that they were making the Get Back project, each of the band members were absolutely exhausted together, with George Harrison in particular getting more and more frustrated about not getting his songs on the record as much. While they tried to soothe things over with what turned into their final concert on the rooftop of Apple, new manager Allen Klein had other ideas, trying to lure the band into shady business deals and eventually leading to Paul McCartney fighting his bandmates.

While it seemed like the band ended with a whimper, they did manage to come together to make one more album with Abbey Road, which turned into one of their finest moments as a group. Let It Be would sit on the shelf for a year before coming out, but the peace and love era of the band was dead and buried already.
