10 Rock Bands That Got Better With Age

6. Fleetwood Mac

There's a good chance that most of the fairweather fans of rock don't even know about what the old version of Fleetwood Mac was like. Compared to the contemporary folk pop sound that they've adopted since the '70s, you'd be hardpressed to think that these were the same people who were known for composing Black Magic Woman or Oh Well back in the day. Long before the days of spreading rumors, the Mac's heart was rooted much deeper in the blues.

That is, when they had a steady lineup to round everything out. Over the course of their first decade as a band, both Mick Fleetwood and John McVie went through different iterations of what the band could be, with Peter Green as the main spokesperson before bringing on jazz guitarist Bob Welch into the band. Now with John's wife Christine in tow, they were in search of a new guitar player when Lindsey Buckingham was asked to join the group, who's roots were more in the realm of bluegrass and pop.

While Lindsey agreed to join the group, the only caviat was bringing his girlfriend Stevie Nicks, who brought a mystical sound to the group that seemed to fit into the realm of pop. The next few years flip flopped between unbelievable highs and emotional torture for nearly everyone in the band, but it also made for some of the rootsiest heartache that the rock world had ever known.
