10 Rock Bands That Had More Than One Lead Singer

8. Genesis

Whenever you talk about prog, Genesis is the one band you turn to when you need the real head-y music. At a time when King Crimson was the baseline for the more complex sides of rock and roll, the work that these musical headcases made with Peter Gabriel was much more advanced than your everyday rock song, with tracks that would seem to go on for nine hours if they weren't careful. A musical mind as sharp of Gabriel's was so bright that the band didn't even realize they had two phenomenal singers for the price of one.

After Gabriel's departure in the mid '70s to pursue other musical ventures, these prog giants went through one singer after another before letting Phil Collins step up to the mic. Though Collins is notoriously blamed for "ruining" the band with later pop songs like That's All and Invisible Touch, his actual vocal delivery has been stellar throughout every album he's worked on.

Even when working outside the confines of Genesis, both Gabriel and Collins have flexed their chops in solo careers, where they continue to push the boundaries of where their music can go, whether it's through activism in Gabriel's case or on the stage with Collins. Genesis might not be as active as they were in their prime, but as long as one of these men are at the front, you won't need to worry about any diminishing returns.
