10 Rock Bands That Have Terrible Frontmen

9. The Sex Pistols

Ok....this is where you have to start to suspend disbelief a little bit. Imagine starting the punk revolution in the late '70s and finding the perfect mascots for the whole thing in the Sex Pistols. Though you're barely to keep the band together, there's hope to be found in a lot of the more controversial things they get into. Then again, when you make something controversial, don't be surprised when things start coming back around.

Although Johnny Rotten may certainly look the part of a punk rock degenerate, his antics in the past few years have turned more than a few heads and the occasional stomach here and there. Despite the fact that the Pistols themselves could be looked at as somewhat of a manufactured product, Rotten has taken it upon himself to be the punk rock police, calling out any potentially good band for not being punk enough to his standards.

While his seniority in the genre does tend to give him some weight in these topics, even his early work hasn't aged all that well, especially a song like Bodies which decides to tackle abortion in one of the more tasteless ways you would find on a rock album. In truth, Rotten might fit the idea of what a punk frontman should be, but he also should be the mascot for how rockers should not age gracefully.
