10 Rock Bands That Have Two Frontmen

1. The Beatles

Yeah, like we were going to talk about the double frontman role and not bring up the Beatles? Across almost any genre of music, most of magic that comes from the Fab Four is more often than not a direct result from the chemistry between both John Lennon and Paul McCartney. However, the real way they work comes from the fact that they actually...don't.

When it comes to songwriting styles and delivery, both John and Paul are absolute opposites, with Lennon's cynical bite being the antithesis to McCartney's eternal optimism. Once you put those competing forces against one another though, there's an uncertain third element that's added which makes for something greater than just two voices. Across tracks like We Can Work It Out or Getting Better, you can almost feel the interplay at work, as both of them push each other to reach their greatest artistic potential.

Though George Harrison and Ringo Starr were absolutely essential for what they were as well, the interplay between Lennon and McCartney is something more than the Quiet Beatle could really compete with. Even 50 years on since their final recordings, these ingenious ways of writing and performing have certainly left their mark on the music industry as a whole. There's a certain simplicity in some of these songs, but getting these kind of results is nearly impossible to duplicate.
