10 Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album

8. Tool

There are only a handful of metal bands who you can say had a significant impact on the genre.

Whether it was the discovery of metal by Black Sabbath or Metallica delivering the genre to the mainstream, not many other bands can boast such a strong moment in metal's history. On the other hand, Tool opened up the entire genre and created things many metalheads didn't even think were possible.

While the band's debut Undertow was a hard-as-hell metal affair, their experimentations on Aenima and Lateralus broadened the entire spectrum of the metal scene, with songs that combined prog time signatures and psychedelic sound effects to create a pure rock soundscape.

Though the sounds may have been a bit more heady for your average metal fan to digest, each song would always have the moment that made you stop dead in your tracks.

It's almost expected that the band's massive quiet period during the 2010's signaled trouble, but once Fear Inoculum was released last year, it was clear that they could still throw down just as well as they could back in their prime.

It's almost a crime for a band to keep such a good consistency over time, but given all of their output, Tool's knack for metal perfection almost feels not of this Earth.
