10 Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album

7. The Smiths

Part of the reason why alternative rock sounds like it does these days is because of the Smiths. From the melodramatic musings from Morrissey to the delectable guitar work from Johnny Marr, every Smiths tune not only pushed the alternative side of rock into the spotlight, but also bottled up every angsty emotion that comes from being human.

For as great as these guys were in their prime, their dysfunction didn't keep them together for terribly long. Starting with the band's debut record in 1984, they were only together for 3 years before folding due to creative differences, which more often than not came from Morrissey's more outlandish comments.

With only 4 records to their name, the band's catalog is comprised of some of the best alternative music to have ever been recorded, from the gothic gravitas of The Queen is Dead to the politically charged Meat is Murder.

As if the band's proper studio albums weren't enough, some of their compilation albums like Hatful of Hollow and The World Won't Listen are a collection of some of the best songs they have ever written. It's really a testament to your work when an album full of B-sides holds together better than many other groups' studio records.

We may not have had The Smiths around for that long, but they managed to give us more than we could have possibly asked for.
