10 Rock Bands That Never Made The Same Album Twice

6. Paramore

The entire wave of pop punk bands of the '00s didn't really pride themselves on reinventing the wheel or anything. Granted, anyone even coming to someone like Sum 41 or Blink-182 probably weren't expecting some prog rock epic or anything either. Then again, Paramore has stood out as one of the more interesting creations to emerge from this era of rock.

While the first Paramore album was pretty by the numbers for pop punk and emo standards, Riot! showed them take a huge leap in terms of songwriting, alongside introducing Hayley Williams' powerful voice to the world. As much as they could have milked this kind of sound for a while, Brand New Eyes showed them taking on even weirder ideas and getting more mellow with age.

After half of the band quit in protest though, things were looking pretty dismal for the creation of their self-titled, which ended up being one of their biggest shifts into the mainstream world yet with songs like Ain't It Fun and Still Into You. Still, the real change came with After Laughter, complete with squelchy '80s keyboards and a pop edge that sounds like the polar opposite of the same band that made Misery Business just a decade before. Even though you could call this kind of shift selling out, not too many acts can foster the kind of hook chops that Paramore has refined over the years.
